I spent three years in Afghanistan and witnessed the struggles women face. Coming to terms with their worsening situation is challenging.

It breaks my heart and leaves me at a loss for words.

I wish Afghan men would have the courage to stand up to the Taliban and these cruel "laws". But they seem as fearful as their women.

And who can blame them?
