Of course, you were in Afghanistan, too. No surprise here :-). I cannot imagine what it must have been like back then. But I could sense it here and there when I had a moment without security gluing to my heels.
I visited M-I-S, Uruzgan in the south, Bamyan, and the famous Panjshir Valley. The memories are tattooed into my mind.
It’s a sensational country and, as you say, with courageous people. I hope they will rise one day and claim their land and freedom back on their own terms.
